When can I get support from Solikassa?
Overall, our support is not conditional to specific types of actions or tactics, i.e. we do not rank how people choose to act – fines are part of repression directed against all of us and therefore we stand against them together.
Due to limited funds especially in the early phases of Solikassa, we can not guarantee to fully cover every member’s fine. To support where we see it is most needed, we prioritize people who do not have the possibility to get fines covered elsewhere. This means, that we wish to primarily support socio-economically marginalized comrades, and horizontally organized grassroots actions, rather than large, already established groups with comparably high resources (finance, media outreach, network…).
Also note that we currently only support engagement in Norway. You’re however welcome to contact us if you have a specific case and want to find out if we can cover it.
How does it work
There are two kinds of support from Solikassa: basic support and extra support. Solikassa’s ability to fully cover as many fines as possible depends on the amount of supporters and members, and therefore the amount of coverage will vary over time.
Basic Support
You can get Solikassa’s basic support of up to 3 000 kr per fine if
- the action listed as the basis for the fine is something Solikassa supports and
- you had a valid membership between the date of the fine and the date of your application for support.
Extra support
If your fine exceeds Solikassa’s basic support and you estimate your own resources (finances, networks, etc.) to be insufficient, you can also apply for extra support.
How to apply for support
As long as Solikassa’s financial situation allows it, you can receive our basic support simply by sending an email with
- your membership ID and
- a redacted image (removing sensitive information) of your fine.
We highly recommend to only send applications for support by encrypted email.
If you want to apply for extra support just let us know in that same email.
Important: Please remove all private information from your fine. We only need to see
- the date of the issuing of the fine,
- the date of the accused criminal offense, and
- the description of the accused criminal offense.
